Weslo Elliptical Reviews
Are the Weslo elliptical
machines any
good?
About Weslo Ellipticals
Weslo, like the ProForm brand, is owned by Icon Health and Fitness.
Icon happens to be the world's largest retailer of fitness products.
If the name sounds familiar it is because Icon also owns the
popular
NordicTrack, Epic, Reebok and Image brands.
The Weslo
ellipticals are considered "budget" or entry level elliptical trainers.
They offer some of the least expensive ellipticals available with their
entry model starting around $260. The can be purchased both online
and in stores at places like Sears, Wal-Mart and Amazon.com.
The biggest
issue with the Weslo brand is that their ellipticals are not designed for
moderate or heavy use. They are inexpensively made with cheap parts
are not going to last for the long haul. Another issue is that they really
are not designed well for a lot of users. For example the
Weslo Momentum 630 and the Weslo
Momentum 620
only come
with a stride length of 12" and 13". For those that are not
familiar with what a stride length is, it basically is the farthest
distance between the pedals. A 12" to 13" stride length is way too
short to accommodate most users. Taller users will find great
difficulty benefiting from these smaller machines.
Another issue
is the warranty. On a lot of the elliptical trainers there is only a
90 day warranty for parts and labor. A common warranty for such an
inexpensive piece of exercise equipment but also a testament that you are
not going to get years of moderate to heavy use out of these elliptical
trainers. Sometimes you just get what you pay for and our best
recommendation for those that can only afford a budget elliptical is to
save a little more money and look at the
ProForm
elliptical brand. ProForm is a sister company of Weslo and has a
reputation of building a much better budget machine.
