Torso Track II Review

If you have been researching the different ab machines on the market today you probably have already noticed that a lot of the exercise equipment available has very similar functionality.  The real question is whether or not the functionality being offered is "worth the price of admission" and if it is then what is the best product for the money.

Well the Torso Track 2, the famous abdominal machine that is endorsed by Suzanne Summers, really falls into this mold.  The Torso Track II is very similar in design to the Torso Tiger and functionality of the Torso Tiger, Ab Wheel and Ab Slider.  Like the Torso Tiger, the Torso Track comes with adjustable tension cords that allow you to increase or decrease the level of difficulty of your workout.  Another plus, like the Tiger, is that the Torso track comes with a knee pad so that you can focus on your abs instead of your knees during the workout.

However when compared together, the Torso Track really is a more durable machine.

Torso Track Specs

  • 3" Round, 11 Gauge Steel Base
  • 1/4" Solid Steel Frame
  • 32" Wide Handle Bars
  • 2" High-density Foam Pad
  • Adjustable High Quality Ends

What are the negatives for this machine?

The complaints made for the Torso Track are the same complaints made for the other exercise equipment in its category.  There have been some complaints that the exercise can cause some lower back pain during the workout. This also appears to be more common in those that are overweight.  However, the manufactures of the Torso Track do have an answer to the lower back pain concerns.  One nice source of information that the manufactures have provided is their recommendation on how you should safely use the machine.  Basically, to summarize, the key is to try and avoid swaying your back during the exercise.  Swaying the back during the exercise can put additional strain on the lower back.

Is it worth the money?

The Torso Track's quality parts and additional features puts it at a hefty price tag that is a little over $400 brand new.  Now don't get me wrong, the Torso Track 2 is a good machine but like the other abdominal equipment in this category it is really just an 'ab machine'.  Although the arms, shoulders, back and chest will benefit from the exercise, we don't feel it is an "end all, be all machine" if you are looking for a total body workout.  Our recommendation, if you are unsure if the Torso Track is right for you, is to first purchase the Ab Wheel.  The Ab Wheel is priced in the neighborhood of $20 and although not as high quality of a machine as the Torso Track, it still has the same basic functionality.
