Product Features
Product review: The ProForm Stride Select elliptical comes with some impressive features for such an inexpensive machine. With 20 personal trainer workouts, a built-in heart rate monitor and the iFIT compatible technology it is hard to not want to take a second look at this elliptical trainer. The iFIT compatibility is one of the highlight features for this elliptical machine. For those that are not familiar with iFIT, it is an 8 week program that is designed by a Certified Personal Trainer. You plug the iFIT card directly into the console and the interactive workout programs are designed to automatically adjust your workouts resistance as a voice of a personal trainer walks you through each workout. Another impressive feature for such an inexpensive elliptical is the SpaceSaver design. The SpaceSaver design is a common feature in a lot of the ProForm treadmill models but is not really seen much on many of the elliptical trainers that fall under the budget price umbrella. Although the SpaceSaver design may not be necessary for every customer, those that are limited on space will be pleased that they can easily fold and store this elliptical away. Unfortunately the Stride Select will not meet everyone's needs and even though this is a budget elliptical trainer, it really is tailored more for smaller users. Even with the adjustable stride length of 11, 13 and 16 inches, taller users will quickly find that this elliptical does not have a long enough stride length for their needs. Those under average height should do well with the stride length that is included with this trainer. One final consideration to take into account is that this elliptical trainer is also only designed for moderate use. A $500 elliptical is not going to be built with the best components and it can be expected that anyone that uses this machine for heavy use will experience quality issues down the road. Those that plan to spend hours a week on their elliptical trainer should begin their search for the ellipticals in the mid-level (over $1500) price range. In conclusion the ProForm Stride Select is a good buy for anyone looking for a budget machine. There are some nice features included with this machine however the drawbacks such as the stride length still need to be taken in consideration.
