Are the Precor elliptical machines any good?

Precor has built a reputation as one of the top manufactures of high-end home and commercial exercise equipment.  They have been manufacturing elliptical trainers for well over a decade now and have produced some of the best elliptical trainers that are available.  Like their treadmill line many of the elliptical trainers can also be found in commercial gyms throughout the country.   There is a very good reason why so many commercial gyms carry the Precor brand.  First and foremost, Precor produces a reliable and durable machine that is designed for heavy use.  The Precor elliptical trainers are also very quiet eliminating a lot of unnecessary noise.  Last but not least they are also loaded with a lot of great features that should accommodate just about anyone's workout needs.

One of the standout features produced by Precor is the CrossRamp technology.  The CrossRamp technology allows you to adjust the incline and stride length of the elliptical.  Adjustments in the incline will force you to put more emphasis on different muscles during the workout.  For example a steeper incline will put additional strain on the leg muscles.  The stride length is the farthest distance between the two pedals.  This is important because a small stride length is not going to accommodate taller users. 

Another key feature for the Precor elliptical trainer is how smooth and quiet the machine is.  The smoothness of the exerciser is important because it lets you focus more on the workout and less on trying to execute the movement.   However, these are just a few of the features that the Precor elliptical machines offer.  There are many other great features included such as built-in programs, heart rate control, their QuickStart button and much more.  Each model for the elliptical trainer comes with its own set of features so the key is to find the right Precor trainer that has everything that you need.

Keep in mind that the Precor elliptical trainers fall under the high-end market range with their entry level trainer being priced around $2,900.  For many people price is probably the biggest deterrent keeping them from owning a Precor elliptical.  The $2,900 to mid $5,000 price tag on these machines is going to alienate a lot of buyers.  Those without unlimited funds that are still dead set on owning a Precor elliptical may want to consider buying a remanufactured or refurbished machine. 

Precor Warranty

Overall the warranty for the Precor elliptical trainers is pretty good but that is expected for what these machines cost.  The only real issue with the warranty is that there are other more economical elliptical trainers that come with just as good or even better warranties.  Many of the warranties include a lifetime warranty on the frame with 10 year on parts and a 1 year warranty for labor.
