Conclusion
The X1 is the entry level elliptical trainer offered by Lifefitness.  As with the other Lifefitness "X-series" elliptical trainers, the X1 offers two distinct models
with the key differences being a basic console and a more advanced console.  The main differences between the two consoles is that the advanced console includes twice as many workout programs, 10 to be exact, along with a few other additional features such as the wireless heart rate strap.  The advanced console does come at a heftier price adding an extra $300 to the price tag for this machine.  However the price difference between the two consoles is not unique to the X1 model, the X3, X5 and X7 elliptical trainers also jumps around $300 in price for their advanced consoles.

The X1 is not as large and heavy as its siblings but is is still a great elliptical trainer for an entry level machine.  The only real problem with the X1 is that it does not come with an entry level price.  However, when it comes to Lifefitness elliptical trainers, quality is really the key feature.  The X1, like the other models, offers a very smooth and quiet ride.  It is not loaded with all the bells and whistles that you will see on other elliptical brands in the same price range but it durable and stable machine.

The X1 is not perfect and outside it being a little on the expensive side one of the downsides with this elliptical trainer is the fixed stride length of 20 inches.  The 20 inch stride length will accommodate most individuals that are around average height and above, however those on the shorter side may find that the 20 inch stride length is a little long for their needs. An adjustable stride would be better and the X7 model does resolve this issue with a stride length that ranges from 18 to 24 inches.  However the X7 does also come at a considerably higher price.

Overall the reviews that we have seen for the Lifefitness X1 indicate that it is a great elliptical trainer.  The quality, stability and smoothness of the workouts are the real selling points for this machine.  It does not contain all the bells and whistles but for most people a great dependable machine is all they really need.
