What home gym exercise equipment if right for you?

Are you looking for home gym reviews that identify exercise equipment that meets your needs?  When most people think of the word home gym they pretty much think of exercise equipment that allows them to train the entire body.  For most of us, home gyms are viewed as all-in-one training equipment.  A good home gym will allow you to pretty much train your entire body from the pecs (chest) to the biceps all the way to the quads and hams.

One of the biggest mistakes that many people make in a weight resistant program is that they avoid training their entire body.  There are a large number of weightlifters that will only focus on training their upper body while leaving the lower body behind.  This type of training creates an imbalance in the body and limits the growth or progress that can be achieved.  If you think about it home gyms should be viewed as bodybuilding equipment.  Keep in mind that when we state that home gyms are bodybuilding equipment we are not implying that you become a bodybuilder to use them.  We consider home gyms as bodybuilding equipment in the spirit that you use them to train the entire body verses one or two body parts.  The general rule is that you should setup a workout program that trains the entire body versus just training your favorite body parts.

Ideally when starting out you will first need to identify which exercises you want to be able to incorporate into your workout (for example leg press, squats, bench press, etc...).  Some home gyms may not offer the ability to use all the exercises that you wish to add to your workout.  In these cases you may need to look into a more expensive home gym system or purchase additional equipment.

Home gyms can very in greatly in price.  You can spend anywhere from a few hundred dollars on upwards of several thousands of dollars.  Again, pricing should not always be the final motivator in what you purchase.  Always evaluate first the exercises you would to add to your workout and identify the home gym equipment that you can benefit from.  Even if you can't afford to get everything you want when starting out, look at those home gyms that will allow you to cost effectively add equipment over time.

While evaluating the different home gyms,  you may want to take in some of the following considerations:

  • Does the home gym meet your needs?  - Are you able to perform all the exercises that you have added to your workout or will you need to purchase additional equipment
  • How much space do you have for your equipment?  Home gyms can take up a lot of space so make sure you have plenty of room.
  • Durability - make sure that your investment is going to last.  Sometimes you get what you paid for when it comes to durability.
  • Warranty - always check that the equipment has a good warranty.  When investing a lot of money you want to make sure the manufactures guarantee their product.
