Ab Wheel and ABSlider Review
Is the ABWheel and Ab Slider right for you?
|
The AB Wheel allows the abdominals to be isolated, causing an effective extension and contraction of the ab muscles. Basically the exercise works where you sit on your knees, grab the AbWheel or Ab Slider and roll forward to stretch the abdominal muscles. As you roll backwards you should exhale your air to fully contract your abs. Another plus for the Ab Wheel , in addition to the abdominal training, is that the exercise also helps to tone the muscles in your arms, shoulders and back. Although you should consider other exercises to effectively train these bodyparts, it's still a nice added bonus to the workout. When you exercise with the Ab Wheel/ AbSlider you are performing an anaerobic exercise. Anaerobic exercise is also referred to as resistance training. The AbWheel and ABSlider are basically an anaerobic machine that helps you develope the abdominal muscles. The benefits of resistance training include improvements in strength, bone density and metabolic rate. Resistance training also adds shape and contour to the body. However, if you want a six-pack for your abs you will need to also include a good diet and aerobic exercise program. No abdominal machine alone is going to melt the fat away from your midsection. What are the advantages?
Keep in mind that the AbWheel is not as easy as it looks. It may take some time for the novice to get use to using the equipment. You also need to make sure that you do not arch your back during the exercise. There are some complaints that the exercise does cause some lower back pain. Usually the reason for this problem is an improper execution of the exercise and/or the lower back muscles are underdeveloped.
