Bowflex Series 5 Treadmill Review

Product description:

The Bowflex Series 5 is the mid-range treadmill in the Bowflex line.  It comes with a much more powerful motor than what was offered with the Series 3 treadmill.  Also the treadmill belt length is impressive with and improvement from the 54" to 60" length.

The Bowflex Series 5 is an attractive machine that comes with the Strike Zone™ deck cushioning and six built-in preset workout programs.  The treadmill also includes the 4 window LED display for better viewing on the control panel.

Product review:

About the Motor

The Bowflex Series 5 treadmill comes with a 2.5 HP continuous duty motor.  The motor is decent and a huge improvement over the 1.75 HP motor that is included in the Series 3 treadmill.  Bowflex offers the same 10-year warranty for this treadmill that they offer on their other treadmills.

Cushioning and Treadmill Belt

The Bowflex Series 5 treadmill's uses the Strike Zone deck cushioning system to reduce impact on the joints and the lower back  The treadmill belt's length is an impressive length at 20" x 60".

Workout Programs and Features

The Bowflex Series 5 comes with twelve preset workout programs.  The treadmill also includes the Power Assist folding and the SoftDrop declining features.

Warranty

The Bowflex Series 5 comes with a 10-year warranty on the motor, 15-years on the frame and a 2-year warranty for parts, electronics and a 1-year warranty for the labor.  The warranty is the weakest feature for this treadmill.  There are quite a few other treadmill brands in this same price class that are offering a lifetime warranty for the frame and the motor.

Conclusion

The Bowflex Series 5 is a good treadmill that comes with a decent sized motor and a very good length for the treadmill belt.  For the $1,300 price bracket, the Series 5 is competitive with the other treadmills in its class.  Not only does the treadmill include quite a few great features, like the other Bowflex treadmills this one is an aesthetically beautiful machine.

However, where this treadmill falls short is that it is priced only a couple hundred dollars less than Bowflex Series 7 treadmill.  It is hard for us to recommend the Series 5 treadmill when you can pick up the much more impressive Series 7 for an additional $200 investment.  The Series 7 treadmill comes with a 3.0 HP motor and also includes quite a few more additional features.

If the Bowflex Series 5 treadmill was not priced to compete with the Series 7 model we could easily recommend this machine.  The problem is that it really does not make sense to recommend an inferior machine for such a minimal price difference.  Our recommendation is that you spend an extra $200 more and get the Bowflex Series 7 treadmill.
