Product review:

About the Motor

The Bowflex Series 3 treadmill comes with a 1.75 HP continuous duty motor.  The motor is undersized when compared to other treadmills in the $1000 price range.  The motor is backed by a 10-year warranty.

Cushioning and Treadmill Belt

The Bowflex Series 3 treadmill's uses the Strike Zone deck cushioning system to reduce impact on the joints and the lower back  The treadmill belt's length is considered about average at a length of 20" x 54".

Workout Programs and Features

The Bowflex Series 3 comes with six preset workout programs.  The workout programs include manual, cardio, running, fat burn, speed interval jogger, and hill intervals. The SoftDrop declining is also a nice feature for lowering the treadmill deck.

Warranty

The Bowflex Series 7 comes with a 10-year warranty on the motor, 15-years on the frame and a 1-year warranty for parts, electronics and labor.  The warranty is the weakest feature for this treadmill.  There are quite a few other treadmill brands in this same price class that are offering a lifetime warranty for the frame and the motor.

Conclusion

The Bowflex Series 3 treadmill is a an attractive machine but the undersized motor really takes away from the appeal.  The 1.75 HP continuous duty motor is only suited for those that plan to use the treadmill for walking.  Ideally anyone that plans to use a treadmill for heavy running will need to begin their search in the $1,500 and on up price range.  However, the 1.75 HP motor still comes up short compared to other treadmills around the $1.000 price range.

The warranty for the Series 3 is decent and the features are comparable to other treadmills in the same price bracket. Our recommendation is that you take a looks at the Smooth 5.45 Folding Treadmill.  The Smooth 5.45 runs about the same price and has a much better warranty and motor.
