BMR Calculator

How do you calculate BMR and why is it important?

Your Basal Metabolic Rate, also known as BMR, is the amount of calories that your body burns at rest.  Basically BMR calculates the amount of energy that your body uses for basic functions such as maintaining your body temperature, your hear beat, breathing and more.  BMR is important to any diet program because it allows you get a basic understanding of the minimal amount of calories you need to maintain at rest (basic body functions).

AMR is you Active Metabolic Rate and represent the results of you BMR plus the amount of additional calories that you burn according to your physical activity level.  Depending on your daily activity level ranging from light to heavy your AMR calculations will outline the amount of calories that you must consume to maintain your bodyweight.  Before we go any further we will have you calculate you BMR and AMR in the fields below.  Once you have identified what your AMR is we will go into more details about what you can do to either lose or gain weight.
