Bandflex Home Gym Review

Stamina BandFlex XS Seated Home Gym Brief Description
The Bandflex home gyms are very similar in design to the already well known Bowflex brands.  It is no surprise that the Bandflex gyms are marketed as a competing brand to Bowflex since they run around a third of the price and have a few additional features.  The additional features and reduced price for these gyms alone make it no surprise why they have received a great amount of positive reviews.

Product Details
The Bandflex gym uses a system of bungee cords instead of weights for resistance.  Instead of having to load up a bunch of plates for resistance the Bandflex gyms cord system allows you to smoothly and safely workout with up to 260 pounds of resistance.  However, because the design is so similar to the Bowflex gym the Band flex gyms also share the same limitations.  As we pointed out in our Bowflex gym review, if you are serious about gaining a lot of strength and muscle then you will eventually outgrow this gym.  Also, there is a real benefit to be gained from working out with free weights.  Training with free weights requires you to not only lift the weight but also use additional strength and secondary muscles to balance the weight. This helps in the development of the overall strength and size of the muscle.

Now with that being said weight machines are not bad and do provide a good workout, but free weights are necessary for those serious about gaining a great deal of muscle.  But on the other side of the spectrum, if your goals are to gain quality lean muscle mass then by all means these type of machines are a great investment.  Compared to some of the other home gyms out there the Bandflex gyms are very inexpensive and allow you to perform a multitude of exercises.

Outlined below is a comparison chart between the most basic models of the Bowflex and Bandflex home gyms.

    Band Flex Bow Flex
  Number of exercises
  • 67
  • 50

  Pounds of resistance
  • 260
  • 210

  Price
  • Starts around $299
  • starts around $650

All in all the Bandflex gym is a good investment.  Keep in mind that the quality of the Bandflex gym is not going to measure up to the quality of the Bowflex gyms, however, at a third of the price it still is a really good buy.  If you just starting to workout with weights or are really looking for something that will help you build lean muscle then we feel you should consider the Bandflex home gym.
