Ab Doer Pro Review

The Ab Doer Pro exercise machine allows you to comfortably workout your abdominal muscles while sitting in an upright position.  One of the nice features about this machine is that it allows you to do multi-dimensional abdominal workout.  You can workout the abs in a forward crunching motion or side-to-side, the choice is really up to you.  Another great feature for the Ab Doer is that it includes rollers that massage the back as you workout.

The reviews for the Ab Doer are mixed and there are a lot of people out there that do and do not like the ab machine.  Some of the complaints made about the Ab Doer is that it really doesn't provide enough resistance for the exercise.  This may not be an issue for those starting out in their workout program but as time goes on it could be an issue.  Also, a lot of the reviewers felt they could get as much or more out of doing crunches instead of investing in a $130 machine.  And as always, there were few reviews where people felt that the Ab Doer did not provide any value to their workout.

We do agree that the lack of resistance is a real issue but we also feel that the Ab Doer does train the abdominal muscles.  One thing to take in consideration is that if an exercise is not performed correctly you are really going to lose a lot of the benefits it offers.  When you workout your abdominal muscles, whether on a machine or doing crunches, you should exhale as you do the "crunching" movement in the exercise.  The key is to contract the abdominal muscles as you exhale during the movement.  Also take your time during the movement, your not in a race and you don't want to use momentum to make the movement easier then it really is.  The goal is to get as much as you can out of the abdominal workout and not go through the motions just so that you can say you worked out your abs today.

Our recommendation

Overall we feel that the $100 to $130 price tag is a little steep for what the machine offers.  We like that you can train your abdominal muscles at various angels but for the long-term benefits this machine should provide additional resistance for advanced users.  We recommend that you look at the Ab Scissor if you are looking for a good machine that does the crunching range of motion.
