Brief Description

6 Second Abs works out the abdominal muscles by having you you sit in a chair while placing the base of the machine on your thighs as your hands grip the handles located at the top of the machine.  As you pull, or crunch, your chest to your thighs the 6 Seconds Abs machine provides resistance to the abdominal muscles.  During the movement, you will hear audible clicks that last over a 6 second period insuring that you get the maximum benefit from the workout.

Resistance Levels

6 Second Abs provides five (5) adjustable resistance levels ranging from 15 to around 55 pounds.  The exercise machine comes with two sets of resistance bands: 2 Yellow which are 15 pounds of resistance each, and 2 Orange, equaling 25 pounds of resistance each. The resistance bands can be used one or two at a time, in various combinations, to provide five different resistance levels.

The different options for the resistance bands settings are:

  • 1 yellow = 15 pounds
  • 1 orange = 25 pounds
  • 2 yellow = 30 pounds
  • 1 yellow & 1 orange = 40 pounds
  • 2 orange = 50 - 55 pounds

6 Second Abs also has an upgrade kit that can purchased at an additional charge.  The upgrade kit includes two Red bands which are around 37.5 pounds of resistance each.   With the upgrade kit, 6 Second Abs can provide resistance ranging from 15 to 75 pounds.

Is 6 Second Abs worth the money?

Many of you out there are wondering if 6 Second Abs really works and unfortunately the reviews for this guy isn't all that promising.  Many people are mixed about whether or not the machine delivers what it promises and there are a large number of complaints regarding the quality of the exercise equipment.  The first problem is that 6 Second Abs proudly proclaims that their exercise machine is 15 times more affective then doing crunches.  Although we believe that the machine does deliver more of a workout than doing normal crunches, there really isn't any solid evidence to backup the "15 times more affective" claim.

The second issue, which is really the big issue, is that most of the complaints surrounding the exercise equipment state that it looks and feels like a plastic toy.  There have also been numerous complaints that they machine just doesn't last that long.  Many of the reviews that we have seen just give the impression that this guy is more of a cheap toy than a good piece of workout equipment.  There are some additional complaints that the workout video is annoying but we really do not feel that those complaints hold a lot a merit.  6 Second Abs is a workout machine that does not require a video so whether or not one is used is really a personal option and doesn't really reflect on the quality of the machine.

Unfortunately there are too many negative reviews regarding the quality of this machine for us to recommend it.  The functionality is good but in reality we do not see any evidence of it being 15 times more affective than regular abdominal crunches.  Our recommendation is that you pass on this one and invest a little more money for a better quality machine.  We would recommend looking more towards the Ab Scissor.
